Two years ago, spring 2017, we were approached by Foam to come and talk about lithographing/printing and binding their magazine. We had just made the book Ville de Calais by Hen k Wildschut and Henk tipped us off in a conversation with Foam to approach us given the pleasant experiences.

In a first conversation, Foam made clear to us what they wanted to go to and what they would expect from the collaboration. Within the set framework, we have developed a proposal which has resulted in a fine collaboration with the editors, the external designers, bindery Patist and Igepa as supplier of the paper. It was very important to us to continue working on the quality of the magazine with all its different types of paper.

Lithography plays an essential role in this and as one of the few printing companies in the Netherlands, we can do this in-house, which has many advantages. We have tested different types of grids for each type of paper, listened carefully to the wishes and requirements with regard to the images and found the right mix.

Everyone remains critical in order to maintain a high level of quality. A nice side-effect was that Foam Magazine was proclaimed Photography Magazine of the Year at the Lucie Awards in Carnegie Hall, New York City (October 2017).

Due to the success of the magazine and its international distribution, many international customers have found their way to us, which has led to a significant increase in exports, particularly to the English-speaking regions such as the UK, the USA and Australia. But it has also brought in many new customers nationally.
